Cascadia Family Folk Choir

An Intergenerational Choir in Eugene, Oregon

I am currently gathering interested individuals and families for this choir offering. I hope to begin rehearsals sometime in 2026! Feel free to read about my vision below, and contact me if it speaks to you.

The Cascadia Family Folk Choir is based in South Eugene. We are a welcoming, intergenerational singing community where voices of all ages and abilities come together in harmony. We sing for joy, for connection, and for the simple beauty of raising our voices side by side.

What makes this choir unique is its mixed-age nature — children, teens, and adults of all ages all singing together. In this shared circle, younger singers are uplifted by the guidance of adults, while older singers are renewed by the playfulness and fresh spirit of youth. Together, we create music that bridges generations and strengthens community bonds.

Our gatherings are less about performance and more about connection, belonging, and the joy of singing. We do share our songs with the wider community from time to time, but our focus is on the experience of singing together in a safe and welcoming space.

Membership is offered on a monthly basis and includes up to two practices each week, which will take place in the South Eugene area. Each week’s sessions explore the same songs and themes, so you’re welcome to come to whichever time fits your rhythm — or both, for extra practice and nourishment through song and community. The two-practice/week offering also helps accommodate missed practices due to illness, travel, etc.

If you’ve ever longed to sing — or to sing again — you are welcome here. No prior experience is needed, only a willingness to bring your voice and your heart.

What to Expect

  • Songs from around the world that sing into universal human experiences
  • Rounds, call-and-response, harmony singing
  • Movement, rhythm games, improvisation games and musical play
  • A warm, welcoming space for all voices

Attendance Policy

We welcome both families and individual singers!

  • Children under age 8 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or responsible adult.
  • Children 8 and older may attend independently with guardian permission and must be comfortable participating in a group setting.
  • This is a musical community — not a childcare service — so active participation is expected from all attendees.

Code of Conduct

We sing best when we feel safe and respected. Please help us make choir a joyful place by following these simple guidelines:

  1. Be kind – Respect others, listen actively, and help create a positive, uplifting environment by using encouraging words toward each other and ourselves.
  2. Be present – Phones and other distractions away during practice, please. Engage and participate actively with the group.
  3. Try new things – Mistakes are welcome! Everyone is learning. Let's avoid correcting each other, especially musically, and leave correction to the leaders if they deem it necessary.
  4. Take care of each other – Adults are role models. Kids, let’s support one another.
  5. Care for our space – We each do our part to keep it tidy and welcoming.
